(TPS) Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu congratulated US President-elect Donald J. Trump Wednesday, calling Trump a “true friend of the State of Israel” and pledged to work together with the new administration to advance security, stability, and peace in the Middle East.
“The ironclad bond between the United States and Israel is rooted in shared values, buttressed by shared interests and driven by a shared destiny. I am confident that President-elect Trump and I will continue to strengthen the unique alliance between our two countries and bring it to ever greater heights,” Netanyahu said in a statement.
President Reuven (Ruby) Rivlin added his blessings for Trump, and the country, calling the United States “the [world’s] greatest democracy and pledging Israel’s support for the new administration.
“There are many challenges that lie before you as president – at home and around the world. Israel, your greatest ally, stands by you as your friend and partner in turning those challenges into opportunities,” Rivlin wrote.
In addition, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said he would “work to protect and strengthen the special relationship and strong friendship between our countries and work to strengthen the joint values that Israel and the United States share.”
