Yeshiva Students Mourn the Destruction of the Beis Hamikdash in the Roman Market

Yeshiva students mourned yesterday night the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash in the Cardo compound in the Jewish Quarter of Yerushalayim.

The Cardo, built during the Roman period (sixth century CE), was exposed in the excavation work in the Jewish Quarter between Chabad Street and the Jewish Street in the Jewish Quarter. The Cardo was a central market with spectacular stone columns under the sky, on either side of which sidewalks were paved for pedestrian use.
