Motty Ilowitz – Tu BiShvat | מאטי אילאוויטש – חמשה עשר בשבט

video
play-sharp-fill

I always wondered… every (well, almost) celebratory occasion, in the Jewish calendar, has designated melodies and poems, but there is no specific and special tune or expressive balladry on/about “Tu BiShvat – חמשה עשר בשבט” (the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Shevat).

I decided to work on a poetic creation, and include the שבעת המינים (the species of fruit which the land of Israel is praised for: grapes, figs, olives, pomegranates, dates, etc.) – poetically, fluently and skillfully – within the rhymes and tune.

It is customary to eat a ‘new’ fruit which one has not eaten that entire season, and would require the blessing of “Shehecheyanu”.

Nuuu…. this new song has finally come to ‘fruition’. Let’s make a Shehecheyanu!
