Inspector Richie Taylor is the highest-ranking officer within the New York Police Department (NYPD) who proudly wears a yarmulke as part of his uniform.
Standing at an impressive six-foot-three, his yarmulke adds to his already commanding presence. Despite visibly standing out as a frum Jew, Inspector Taylor confidently embraces his identity, feeling at ease among his colleagues.
The NYPD, consisting of over 38,000 personnel, surpasses the combined size of the three largest police departments in the country. Among this vast force, only around 300 individuals hold the rank of captain. Achieving the rank of captain at the young age of 34, Richie Taylor’s promotion is a testament to his exceptional capabilities and distinguished career. He stands as one of the youngest captains in the history of the NYPD.
In this week’s episode, we discuss how a frum Jew climbed the ranks, the power of Jewish pride and how a village builds a person.
